IV. Critical Psychology Symposium

Resistance, Solidarity and Psychology
26-27-28 September 2014
Ankara/ Turkey
We have been witnessing an increase in social opposition and social
rights movements in Turkey, as well as an increase in solidarity and
practices of resistance in every sphere of life. Since the Gezi Park
protests of June 2013, we have been going through a process of
emancipation against an oppressive regime.
As critical psychologists, we bear a responsibility for producing
knowledge of resistance and subjects in resistance. In order to
understand the new resistance and discuss the potential contribution a
psychology of human emancipation might make, we would like to invite you
to The 4th Critical Psychology Conference in Turkey. The Conference
theme this year is "Resistance, Cooperation and Psychology".
IV. Critical Psychology Symposium invites presentations and panels
focusing on mental health services for LGBTQs, mobbing, youth prisons,
immigrants and human-environment relations. The special session "Rage
against capitalism, support for Soma" is reserved for Soma coal mine
disaster. The symposium aims to discuss critical and community
psychology applications that empower people in the new resistance
movements and as such wishes to assemble psychologists and researchers
with a critical orientation as well as being open to social scientists
from various disciplines.
